Did you know...

The American College of Sports Medicine recommends 8-12 ounces of fluid before exercise, 8-12 ounces of fluid every fifteen minutes during exercise, and 8-12 ounces fifteen minutes after exercise. Studies show drinks with flavor encourage fluid consumption, making it more likely the athlete will consume enough fluid. Gatorade or PowerAde is recommended due to its low concentration of carbohydrate (<10%) which will not inhibit fluid uptake. Concentrations higher than 10% are meant for carbohydrate loading and not rehydration.

 

These drinks can increase athletic performance by maintaining hydration status. Studies show that hydration status can be one of the most influential factors to quality of athletic performance.
